A Coronation of Kings by Samuel Stokes is the first installment of the Chronicles of Meldinar. Tristan is son and heir to Marcus, Lord of the Listarii. Never knowing his mother, Tristan was raised by his father. After losing everything he loved, Tristan vows revenge on those who destroyed his world.

This book has so much potential; it has all the elements for an excellent epic fantasy, but the execution and the lack of editing had me pulling my hair out! It is truly a shame. Hopefully the next installment will be better executed, and better edited. Also, the characters could use a bit more fleshing out. I'm willing to give the next installment a try because of Stokes' potential.

Review: Betwixters: Once Upon a Time

Betwixters by Laura C. Cantu is the first book in the new Betwixters series. We follow three friends, Noah, Ethan, and Skye, on a fantastical journey where they face creatures of the dark while trying to help a new fairy friend.

This is a well written story about friendship, and what it means to truly be a friend. The three friends work together to solve a problem, and they never give up. This is such a delightful story. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Review: Redwall

Redwall by Brian Jacques

Redwall by Brian Jacques is the first installment of the series Redwall. Redwall Abbey is home to peaceful mice, and other woodland creatures. When their abbey is threatened by Cluny the Scourge, the peaceful residents of Redwall Abbey have to defend, and fight for what they hold dear.

I absolutely adored this story! The creatures came to life on the pages, and the world building is quite beautiful. This story grabbed me, and wouldn't let go. There were moments when I laughed out loud, and there were moments when my heart was broken. There were a few grammatical errors, but did not hinder my flow of reading at all. This is a wonderful middle grade fantasy story; I highly recommend it.

Review: 2084

2084 by Mason Engel

2084 by Mason Engel is a futuristic novel where the populous wears "lenses" instead of using computers.

The main character, Vincent, has other ideas about what the "lenses" are for.

When I read the Goodreads blurb, I thought this was going to be an intriguing story. The concept is intriguing, but the execution fell flat. This book starts off strong, but towards the middle, I feel, the author was in too big of a hurry to get to the climax of the story. The writing wasn't as engaging, and there were more grammatical errors that threw me off my reading flow.

Review: Gwendy's Button Box

Gwendy's Button Box by Stephen King

Gwendy's Button Box by Stephen King and Richard Chizmar is a tale about Gwendy and her button box. Of course the button box is enchanted, or cursed. That is up to the reader to decide.

What else can I say about this book? It's Stephen King! I'm a bit bias when it comes to his books. I usually don't review his books because of this, but it was included in my reading challenge, so I thought I would give a bit of a review. Of course this book is well written, and I love a story that flows.

I have never read anything by Richard Chizmar, but the collaboration with King has made me want to indulge in a book or two by him.

Talon and the Dragons of Crinnelia by Diana Metz

Talon and the Dragons of Crinnelia by Diana Metz is the first book in The Prophecy of the Dragons trilogy. We follow Talon in this coming of age story on his quest to becoming a wizard.

I would have really enjoyed this story, but there were flaws that hindered that for me. There were times when a certain character was referred to as she or her, then the next mention of said character would be him or he. There were also quite a bit of grammatical errors that interfered with the flow of my reading.

Review: Bring Her Home

Bring Her Home by David Bell

Bring Her Home by David Bell is a stand alone mystery about Bill Price and the disappearance of his daughter, Summer.

This was a story that kept me on the edge of my seat. There were mysteries within mysteries which I loved. It's a story that portrays some of the feelings people go through when a loved one goes missing. The reason I gave this a three star review is the fact that religion is brought up in the book which did absolutely nothing for the story, in my opinion. There were also discrepancies throughout the book, such as the wrong character's name being used, which will hopefully be caught in the final editing.

A Quest of Heroes by Morgan Rice is the first installment in The Sorcerer's Ring series. This is a coming of age story about 14 year old Thorgrin who prefers to be called Thor. His dream is to become a knight with the King’s Legion.

This story has everything I love in a fantasy story. There is mystery, betrayal, love, lust, and of course hate. I did feel as though things happened fairly quickly, but it was a good story. I can't wait to read the next installment.
