The Wizard Hunt by C.J. Thompson is the first installment in The Forgotten Wizard series. Roland Roper is determined to find a cure for his ailing father.

Plot 3/5: The plot is good but executed poorly.

Characters 2/5: The characters weren't believable, or fleshed out enough for me.

World building 3/5: I would have liked to see more descriptions in all aspects of this story.

Pacing 3/5: The pacing was too slow for my taste.

Writing 3/5: I feel there is a lot of potential for this story to be built upon.

Overall 2.8

Infestation by William Meikle is a stand alone book about monsters and mayhem.

Plot 5/5: This is an exciting tale of overgrown isopods.

Characters 5/5: The characters come to life within the pages of this story.

World building 5/5: The situation that the characters find themselves in is very imaginable.

Pacing 5/5: Action packed!

Writing 5/5: William Meikle's writing is fantastic!

Overall: 5

This story took me back to the B horror movies that I loved as a kid! Fantastic story, and I definitely recommend it!

The Hunter's Rede by F.T. McKinstry is the first installment in the Chronicles of Ealiron about a hunter named Lorth and his the quest he finds himself on.

Plot 4/5: There was a major twist that I wasn't expecting.

Characters 4/5: The characters are pretty fleshed out. I found myself liking Lorth very much.

World building 4/5: There are different places and races which enhanced the story.

Pacing 3/5: The pacing was steady, but dragged with wordy descriptions.

Writing 4/5: The writing is good with very few typos.

Overall: 3.8

Review: The Chalk Man

The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor is her debut novel about 12 year old Eddie and his group of friends, and the meeting of Mr. Halloran, the Chalk Man.

Plot 5/5: This is a horror mystery with so many twists and turns. It kept me engrossed.

Characters 5/5: The characters are well fleshed out. I loved getting to know the characters.

World building 4/5: The story goes back and forth from the present to 1986, when it all happened.

Pacing 4/5: The pace was steady.

Writing 4/5: There were a couple of errors, but did not in the least interfere with the flow of the story.

Overall: 4.4

I highly recommend this book to lovers of Stephen King stories.

The Deciding Book

A few days ago I was torn between two books. "Which should I read first?" I asked myself that question several times. Well, I tried both. 

The first was Lunora and the Monster King by H.S. Crow

After 5% into the book, I knew it wasn't for me. It's written like a play with the description of the characters at the beginning of the book. Then it tells us what said person is doing (i.e. laughing, crying), then we get a few words of dialogue. The chapters are acts, and very boring acts I might add. Unfortunately, this is not what I had in mind for an enjoyable fantasy novel. 

The second book was Stryke First: A Comic Fantasy by Kevin Partner

After 5% of this book, I also knew this wasn't for me. I kept anticipating the comedy, but I never found any.

So, after not getting past the 5% in both books I decided to DNF them. Now that I'm older, I'm quick to DNF a book. Life is too short to read books that do not catch my interest, though that is not to say that someone else might not enjoy these books.

The book that has gotten my attention, and I will definitely finish is: 

The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor

So far, so good! I can't wait to finish this book!

I would have to say a flannel shirt,because I'm tomboyish, laid back, and I can take it off when I get hot!

I would have to go with a cat. I'm very much like a cat anyhow; not too concerned with what's going on around me as long as I'm fed.

What would be your dream job?

When I was a kid, I always wanted to do animation for Disney. Now that I'm older, I'd love to work in a library.

I'd go with: Live and let live. 

What part of your daily routine do you enjoy most?

Reading in my bed after my grandchildren go to sleep. #MyTime

I'd choose 50, because I wouldn't want to go through what I've been through again, and I've learned a lot from my numerous mistakes that I am content where my life is at right now.

I've had an imaginary friend all my life. I don't call him/her anything, but I talk to him/her all the time. My imaginary friend has never had a sex or color. He/she has just always been there, listening to me when no one else would.

If you could read one person's mind, who would it be?

I would like to read a baby's mind. I've always wondered what and how they think.

Would you rather see the future or change the past?

I would rather see the future. I am who I am because of the past, so I wouldn't want to change me.

What do you do to have fun?

I read, visit my mom, and play with my grandchildren.

The Watcher: And the Origins of Magic is the first book in the two book series The Gates of Oblivion by Luis Robles. This is the story of Bliss, the last Child of Power.

Plot 4/5: I thought the plot was interesting.
Characters 4/5: I loved Bliss and Pah.
World building 3/5: I thought the world building could have used a bit more detail.
Pacing 4/5: The pacing was steady with spurts of action.
Writing 2/5: This book has a lot of potential, though I feel this book could have used better editing.

Overall 3.4
